Picture is locked on Billy Trigger, my random thoughts!

Yesterday, Director/Editor Christian Viel and I finally locked picture on Billy Trigger. I am elated with what we have and I feel like sharing some positive joo-joo.

First of all, I believe that Billy Trigger is the best film Viel and I ever collaborated on. His camera work is tops and his action scenes are bad and ass. This is also (surprisingly) the “meatier” flick we’ve ever done as the characters/relationships are fleshed out and layered. A result of the many re-writes I did on the script at the request of Executive Producer Berge Garabedian and director Viel and of the actors, who brought their own ideas and of course their own energy on set. For example, there’s a love story in the film that wasn’t really on the page, but that was born and took life on set due to the chemistry two of the actors shared (me being one of them).

I am also happy to report that our main cast owns it! Fred Williamson goes back to his Black Caesar roots with his nuanced performance here, fans of The Hammer will love this role! Anderson Bradshaw gives what is in my opinion his best showcase to date, his key scene with The Hammer was the tits! Meghan Gabruch is simply a revelation, local casting Agents should be beating down her door with axes, the girl’s got chops and then some! Matthew Bennett steals every single scene that he’s in and Pia Metni will make you fall in love with her. And I do all right in the film too 🙂

Moreover, the flick is an effortless sit down. You know you got a good pace going when you watch a rough cut (with raw sound/image and no sound effects) and it flashes by. I’m happy about that.  So there ya have it! Twas a long climb for all, but we made it. All that matters. I’ll speak for myself here; although my fight for this film is farrrrrrr from over, being that I am so in love with the final product, it will make battling for it so much more easier. Will keep yall in the loop! Peace!

Billy Trigger enters Post Production!

Hey all, am happy to report that BILLY TRIGGER has finally entered Post Production. BILLY TRIGGER was directed by Christian Viel and Produced by JoBlo Productions and here’s a reminder as to what it is about:

Irish mobster Billy Trigger (John Fallon) has been Pops (Fred Williamson) number one enforcer for three years now. And for good reasons; he is cold, calculated and relentless and has never tackled a job he couldn’t finish. His life is trouble-free and solitary as it mainly consists of: loose women, doing the work and cashing in. That’s until Pops, the head of the organization, hands him his next assignment.Trigger is tasked to look over his young mistress, Catherine (Pia Metni), while he’s away on business. Of course, nothing goes as planned and Trigger ends up on the wrong side of Pops esteem…What happens when the best in the business is pitted against the business? Place your bets!

BILLY TRIGGER stars Fred Williamson, Pia Metni, Matthew Bennett, Meghan Gabruch, Anderson Bradshaw, Deke Richards and myself. It was financed by JoBlo Productions. Check it on THE INTERNET MOVIE DATABASE HERE

Cult MTL gives Billy Trigger some love!

Local Montreal website CULT MTL dropped by the set of our new action flick Billy Trigger and talked to star Fred Williamson and myself. Here’s an excerpt.

Fallon’s horror movie reviews are stylistically chock-full of male-centric bravado — less critical and more in line with a guy who just wants Jack Daniels and, as he’s written in the past, a “good flick.” His personality and his work on Trigger fit perfectly in line. “Action has always been my first love. You know, then I started writing about horror and people pigeonholed me for that. And I love horror, too,” says Fallon.

Though the gritty nature of Trigger hearkens back to gritty low-budget action films of the 1970s, both Fallon and Williamson insist it’s not a throwback, but the real thing. “We have a junkyard chase scene — you never see that in movies anymore,” Fallon points out. “Gritty throwbacks are bullshit,” says Williamson. ”What Tarantino does with the negative scratches,” he continues, referring mostly to his work on Grindhouse, “it’s just bullshit.” He adds that there was no way that would have gone over well in the 70s.
