Gonzalo Lopez’ OLD NUMBER 7 (see trailer here) will probably get its last public screening on the 22nd of January, 2011 at 6 PM via AGG EXTREME FEST (which is supposed to be showing the best shorts of last year… hence it’s flattering). The screening will go down at the C. C. Garcilaso in Barcelona, Spain. OLD NUMBER 7 stars myself, Saida Lamas and Sergio Bernal. It was written by Gonzalo Lopez and myself. The flick was produced by Sweet Water Pictures, Aved Productions and yes, moi.by
Funny how shit goes… my short film THE RED HOURS got accepted at the Cinefantasy International Film Festival (August 31st to September 12th) in Sao Paulo Brazi recently. What I didn’t know was that director Gonzalo Lopez submitted our short OLD NUMBER 7 to that same Festival and it got accepted, hence I will be in competition with myself… why not!
Old Number 7 is about: Roy (John Fallon), a no nonsense kind of guy, arrives from the United States in Barcelona on a mission of retribution. He’s there to confront his wife, Mariona (Saida Lamas), who aborted their baby without his consent, and to clear the air with his brother Gonzalo (Sergio Bernal) who has since began an intimate relationship with his wife. Unbeknownst to all of them though, there is a ruthless killer at large and powerful supernatural forces looming around them.
OLD NUMBER 7 stars Saida Lamas, Sergio Bernal and myself. It was written by Gonzalo Lopez and I. It was produced by Sweet Water Pictures, Aved Productions and my company Fallon Productions. See the TRAILER here. Dates and time when I get them!by
The short film I did with Gonzalo Lopez OLD NUMBER 7 (see trailer here) seems to be on fire. It just screened at the Filmets – Festival Internacional de Badalona and now it just got accepted at the Malta International Film Festival. And what makes it even more exciting for me, FINALLY, it will be the Fallon approved FINAL CUT that is screened. Due to bad luck and mis-communications, only the first cut of OLD NUMBER 7 has be screened so far, so now peeps will be able to see it the way it was intended. There is a Lord! OLD NUMBER 7 stars this jerk, the sexy Saida Lamas and the talented Sergio Bernal. It was written by Gonzalo Lopez and myself. The flick was produced by Sweet Water Pictures, Aved Productions and my company Fallon productions. Dates and time when I get them!
The short film I did with Gonzalo Lopez; our ode to giallos OLD NUMBER 7 (see trailer here) didn’t get as much press as say The Red Hours or Deaden but that doesn’t mean I am not proud of it (still needs a pro sound mix IMO though) and it continues trucking on. The flick has just been selected in the 35th edition of Filmets – Festival Internacional de Badalona. It will be in competition. The film will be screened on November 12, at 21:00, in the Zorrilla Theater, C/Canonge Baranera, 17; as part of the International Fiction Competion. Get more INFO HERE cabrones! OLD NUMBER 7 stars my sorry ass, the sexy Saida Lamas and the talented Sergio Bernal. It was written by Gonzalo Lopez and myself. The flick was produced by Sweet Water Pictures, Aved Productions and this twat.
We hope to see you there!by
After its stint at the SITGES FILM FESTIVAL, my short flick with GONZALO LOPEZ OLD NUMBER 7 will now be screening in competition at the FILMETS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL on NOVEMBER 12TH at 21:00 at the Zorilla theater (Zorrilla means little bitches in Spanish slang… nice!). On October 10 2009, OLD NUMBER 7 (which I co wrote, co produced and acted in) was unleashed upon its first audience at the Sitges Film Festival in Spain. The mammoth crowd at hand was a party crowd and they were there to have a good time and a good time they had. So after great man Jake West (Evil Aliens) introduced my sorry ass, I ran up on the Sitges stage winged a speech and the film rolled on.
NOTE: I discovered that night that I am a natural at talking at crowds when sober that is – when drunk I make a fool of myself, so lesson learned – no more drunk speeches.
From my perspective the screening went well for 4 reasons. 1- Lots of the audience seemed to like it. They were obviously entertained, they clapped and cheered. 2- No booing. 3- I actually liked the film. The intro is KILLER and at least 2 other scenes really work in my opinion. 4- When you work on a film for a long period of time, you don’t see it anymore and it takes a screening like this, with folks totally detached from the production watching it, to TRULY discover what works and what doesn’t work.
So in the case of Old Number 7, a couple of times, the audience laughed at parts that were not supposed to be funny. Now you can take this two ways, get bummed about it and sulk or you can take it MY WAY, be happy that you now know that these bits don’t work and that you can go back and fix them. IMO, 85% of the film worked.
When the screening was done, we had a mini wrap party in Gonzalo Lopez’s (who directed the film) Hotel room. We had a bottle of Jack going (Old Number 7 – get it!) and we basically enjoyed each other’s company and discussed the pros and the cons of the screening. So where we at? After much talk with director Lopez, we’re going in the editing room one last time to fix what didn’t work.
I personally SEE the film again and feel confident that this further trip in the cutting room will make a good short film even better. To be continued on that shite!
FINAL NOTE: Man I look like crap in that movie. During the shoot I didn’t sleep much (insomnia) so I got bloated and tired. I swear I look 50 years old in some scenes. The fact that we didn’t have makeup didn’t help either. Yup, another lesson learned – I will NEVER agree to act in a film with no makeup. Never, EVER!
Ah the joys of Indie filmmaking…how I love thee… later yall!by

The short OLD NUMBER 7 which I co wrote, co produced and acted in will be screening on OCTOBER 10 in competition. OLD NUMBER 7 is an ode to giallos of old. It was directed/written by Gonzalo Lopez (EMBRION) and it stars Saida Lamas and Sergio Bernal.
And the action/sci fi/comedy/smut fest RECON 2023 will be whooping skulls on OCTOBER 11 as part of the MIDNIGHT EXTREME section. I co wrote RECON 2023 (with director Christian Viel) and I act in it. The film stars Andy Bradsaw, Deke Richards and Valerie Wiseman.
Unless the good Lord plays against me, I am slated once again to attend the SITGES FILM FESTIVAL this year, to support both screenings and of course bring back some horror goods to the site. If you’re attending the Fest, come say hello and lets have a beer!by
