Vancouver, BC, here I come…

June 29th, 2009 No comments

johnnybcIn Vancouver, BC…

And it’s a done deal. Come August 1st I’ll be living in beautiful Vancouver, BC. for a while. Why? Well, I’ve pretty much exhausted my options in terms of exceeding within the film industry here in Montreal, Canada and trying out Vancouver has always been a goal of mine.

Needless to say I have been to the city many o time over the years and its always agreed with me. It’s a very nature inclined city, with striking mountains, the ocean and trees galore. Film work wise, well it’s not too far from LA, so there’s more projects in the pipeline there than here. They don’t call it Hollywood North for nothing.

So there ya have it! I will miss Montreal being that my love for the Habs has renewed my interest in the city. I will also miss my family and my friends so FUCKING MUCH… it wont be easy being that the people I love in my life are INCREDIBLY important to me… but what can you do, I need to do this – for so many reasons and it now it will be done.

So if you’re in the film industry in Vancouver, BC and you wanna hook up – holler at me: john.h.fallon@gmail.com

Later!

John

Thoughts on NHL draft…

My education on everything Habs and Hockey reached another level yesterday when I attended the NHL Draft, being held in my hometown of Montreal, Canada. The event itself was all right (I mean watching people getting called out to a podium for them to slap on a Jersey is nothing to a pop a boner over and Gainey aint doing shit so far), I was just happy to be kicking it in the Bell Center to be honest. Much like when I go on one of my nature inclined outings; I associate the Bell Center with me NOT working, me relaxing and me being HAPPY – so it’s always a treat to hit it.

One thing that stuck out for me in a bad way though was the lousy attitude of “some” and I say “some” (like 5%) of the audience members. I mean; is it okay to BOO staffers of opposing teams/countries that are visiting us during the draft? What does that make Montreal Hockey fans look like? Exactly.  It reminded me of that  Habs game I saw this year where “some” of the audience booed while the American National Anthem was sang. I was like WTF? I so dissagreed with that.

Just wanted to put this out there: Montreal loves Hockey and its team with a passion that I have yet to see matched anywhere else. I’m sure the fact that the Habs (and Maurice Richard) were one of the first steps as to French Quebec getting some respect has something to with that. The Richard Riot at the Old Forum in 1955 kind of began the quiet French Quebec revolution against the Anglo oppression.. So totally understandable that Hockey is a religion here and I’m, happy and proud to finally be part of it.

With that said; is booing rival teams’ national anthems, booing our own Goalie (Poor Price) or booing folks visiting Montreal under the NHL umbrella OUTSIDE of a game the way to go to communicate that passion? In my book: no.  Yes I’ll boo the rival team during a game and yell out “fuck you” to Refs who do bad calls – but that’s normal (in my opinion of course) behavior when watching live sport and rooting for your team. But going beyond that like some peeps do here…well… nough said. That’s it for me today! I needed to vent this out. I’m out of here!

Old Number Seven poster!

June 22nd, 2009 No comments

oldnumber7

This year, director GONZALO LOPEZ (of  EMBRION fame) and I teamed up to create a short horror film called  OLD NUMBER 7. The film is about Roy (played by me), a no-non-sense dude, who returns to Barcelona to confront his ex -wife (Saida Lamas). And for good reasons; she aborted their baby and is now nailing his brother (Sergio Bernal). Giallo shenanigans and supernatural undertones ensue.

The film is slated to premiere at this year’s SITGES FILM FESTIVAL and here’s the first piece of promo for it: the one sheet (see above). Yup, the film is akin to an old school Giallo and the poster (created by Joan I. Alonso and Toni Benages) definitely reflects that. I love it! And here’s a word from Director Lopez as to the status of the film:

Gonzalo Lopez: “At this moment we’re in the final stages of post production and we’re working like bitches to coordinate all the different teams. We’re finishing sound, music and CGI shots and at the same time we’re beginning to work on the digital composition, color correction and the end credits sequence. With a little luck maybe in 3 or four weeks our baby will be finished.”

OLD NUMBER 7 was produced by Gonzalo Lopez, Javier Rueda and myself. You can expect more news about the project sooner than later!.

Why my recent love of the Habs!

June 16th, 2009 No comments

habssss
Been getting lots of emails from old friends asking me “when the fuck did you start liking hockey”? And it’s a valid question. You got to understand, my whole life I didn’t give an ounce of a shit about Hockey. Sure I played it in the streets at like 12 years old but never cared for watching it on TV… EVER! ZERO INTEREST. The only sport I followed was boxing. Today, good luck in seeing me without a damn HABS t-shirt on. So what happened?

Well, my brother brought me to see a game live last year and I had a blast. After that I saw more games live, that progressed to me watching games on TV and if memory serves me right; it was seeing the ALL STAR GAME live, which Kovalev aced that locked the deal; I had found a new love – it was the MONTREAL CANADIENS, aka THE HABS hockey. And you know what, I so needed that! You have to understand – my existence is mostly all work and it ALL revolves around movies. The site, screenwriting, acting, directing, jerking off… all movies. So now I have something that I love that’s not film related and man is it refreshing!

The fact that it gave me a reason to appreciate the city of Montreal again (the shitty film industry here KILLED my liking for this city like eons ago) and that it brought me and my brother closer were added pluses. My bro and I had a fucked up childhood (an After School Special on acid as I call it), so we were rarely close; now as “adults” (well, immature adults) we’re good friends and FINALLY true brothers. And our mutual love for the HABS made that bond even stronger – who knew – you just can’t go wrong with that jive!

So yeah, I now dig hockey – I’m all about it. So until the next season starts, I’ll be playing it with friends, visiting Habs related landmarks, eating at Guy Lafleur’s restaurant (great fucking ribs), killing NHL on XBOX and waching Kovalev’s Hockey Tips DVD to better my PATHETIC game.  I am SLOWLY improving… VERY slowly… but give me year and I’ll top shelf your ass : )

NOTE:  Here’s a clip of me sucking at hockey.

RECON 2023 @ Fantasia Film Festival!

June 16th, 2009 No comments

The badass FANTASIA FILM FESTIVAL (that goes down in my home town of Montreal, Canada) will soon be upons us. I’ll be checking it out for Arrow in the Head  in the name of tapping the more high profile films and mingling with my horror peers (while JoBlo.com alumni Chris Bumbray will be covering the bulk of the Festival for AITH). But I’ll also be there to back RECON 2023; a twisted sci-fi/comedy/action/horror  film that I wrote with fellow madman Christian Viel and that I act in (I play a psycho, rape happy Cyborg…  overacting ensues…why…cause its a psycho, rape happy Cyborg…no rules to play a role like that) .  Dates and times are still up in the air but when I know, you’ll know.

My training routine and diet… for those who give a shit…

June 12th, 2009 No comments

I always try to train and keep in shape; but my party animal nature often works against me. I go through my ups and downs with it. Sometimes I’m on, other times, partying takes over, I let it go and gain on the booze pounds. But there’s nothing like an impending film to motivate you to work-out, so you can be at your best for the film. So I am now back in hardcore training, am trying to kick the cigarettes, am toning down on booze and am following a strict diet.

When I did DEADEN, I went for pure MASS. I wanted the character to look like a FREIGHT TRAIN.  For TRIGGER though; I want  to go leaner; which sucks for me cause my body type goes hand in hand with gaining mass fast – but has a hard getting cut – which means WORKING OUT HARDER.

The freight train look as I call it, that I got for DEADEN…

So here’s my routine, diet and the supplements I take. Why? Why the fuck not.

On DEADEN I took on a classic MASS work-out (full body work-out – 3 to 4 sets per exercise – reps of 6 to 8), now I’m doing circuit training (with reps of 8 to 10), which promotes weight loss, cardio and getting that rip effect.

Everyday: 3 set of crunches – as much as I can do.

On MONDAY, WEDNESDAY and FRIDAY I do this:

Clean and Jerk – Bench Press Pull Ups – Close Grip Bench - Barbell Curls Dumbbell Lateral Raises

I do these exercises one after another with no rest in between. Once I’ve done all 5, I rest for one minute and then do the whole thing again. I’m up to two sets NOW – I wanna get up to 4.

On TUESDAYS and THURSDAYS I do laps in the pool in the morning, then do 3 rounds on the punching bag, do a bike ride in the afternoon and then play hockey in the evening.

Diet wise, it goes something like this daily:

Breakfast: 2 Eggs and 2 pieces of Toast – ideally I should stick to only egg whites – but the taste is so damn boring…

Snack: Protein Shake with milk.

Lunch: Grilled chicken – green veggies.

Snack: Low fat Yogurt.

Dinner: Grilled chicken and broccoli or salad.

On weekends I drink and eat what I want. I may have to change that, depending on my progress.

As for supplements; when I did DEADEN I used Andro 1-AD Pro Hormones. It promoted gaining MASS very quickly – but at the same time it caused some water retention, hence I got big, yet  a tad too puffy for my liking. On this run; I’m avoiding AD-1 and here’s what I take:

Every day I have a protein shake with milk (Nitro Tech Hardcore) and after every work-out I take a glass of Cell Tech Hardcore (with water). That’s it.

So there ya have it! I’m done!

Meet TRIGGER!

June 12th, 2009 No comments

Here’s the teaser poster for the last script that I wrote called TRIGGER. It’s an action film that I’m set to star in. I’m very proud of the script. One of my tightest ones. It’s funny, relentless and of course violent. Now, this is by no means the final one sheet, just something we whipped up to push the movie.

Often partner in crime Christian Viel is slated to direct it. We had such an amazing time doing DEADEN together; that we decided to tag team on another action film i.e. this one! So where’s TRIGGER at right now? We’re working on it. All I can say for now. One thing I do know, it will be bigger and badder than DEADEN that’s for damn sure!

Intro to my Official Blog!

June 10th, 2009 No comments

Hey all! Welcome to my Official Blog! Yup, I decided to get rid of my old OFFICIAL SITE and get with the fucking times already. For those of ya who don’t know who I am (lucky you) here’s a quick rundown:

My name is John Fallon. I love nature and all that is “real” (people included). At the same time; I am pursuing a career in the film industry which is the opposite of peace and “real” (people included). I like to think that I’m a cool cat, a nice guy…until you fuck me over that is.

Professionally; I run one of the more popular (or so my mom tells me) horror websites on the web called Arrow in the Head. I’m also an actor (I’ve been compared to Lorenzo Lamas…ALL GOOD…GREAT MAN!), screenwriter, producer and director. To put it simply: I’m just a dude who wants to make a living working within what he loves: movies. If I pull that off, the rest is gravy.

What do I do for fun? I work (yes, its fun to me), travel (lots), work out, play hockey, see hockey games live, write, hang with buds, do extreme sports, play video games and do some boxing. I’m of the “live life to the fullest” school, so I’m always looking for new things to try and new experiences to live. My religious inclinations? I just try to be a good person, that’s my religion…that and the ocean which moves me…yup…I’m more of a spiritual type.

So what can you expect from this BLOG? Well I’ll talk about the film projects I’m involved in of course, my experiences in the zany world that is the film industry, will perhaps share some personal shite about me now and again… maybe even go the Diary way if the amount of booze in my system is on the money… basically, I’ll do whatever I feel like doing when I do it. Don’t want to really “plan” this thing, I’ll go with the flow and see where it takes me.

So, in closing; welcome to my personal/professional Blog! I hope you enjoy reading my drivel.
