The Action Elite reviews Dead Shadows!

September 26th, 2012 No comments

Action movie site THE ACTION ELITE just reviewed David Cholewa’s DEAD SHADOWS (I play John in the film) and here’s and excerpt of their positive review:

From the very opening you know this isn’t the kinda film that’s going to have a happy ending and that all hell is going to break loose beforehand. And what an ending, not gonna say more than that though.  If you’re looking for violence and gore you’ve come to the right place as this movie has it in spades. You’ve got melting faces, harsh beatings and much more so it really is the ultimate date movie…  This may be a silly thing to say, but it’s difficult to judge how good the acting is in a foreign film when you don’t speak the language, but I’ll do my best. The performances in general were good but it’s John “The Arrow” Fallon’s role that makes the film really stand out. He plays the gun/sword/whatever wielding bad ass with relish and is clearly enjoying every second. His entrance scene remains a high point for me.

Dead Shadows and Slice and Dice: The Slasher Film Forever Sitges dates/times!

September 18th, 2012 No comments

Being that we are in pre production for BILLY TRIGGER it is very unlikely that I will make it to my favorite genre film Fest this year, THE SITGES FILM FESTIVAL (but if I see a window, I will take it)! With that I will be there in celluloid spirit. DAVID CHOLEWA’S DEAD SHADOWS, a film that I acted in, will be screening there (get info and tickets here) and so will CALUM WADDELL’S documentary SLICE AND DICE: THE SLASHER FILM FOREVER (get info and tickets here) in which I was interviewed for. To my fellow cast and crew members that are going, HAVE A BLAST! It’s the BEST Festival out there! Viva Sitges!

Official “Billy Trigger” press release!

JoBlo.com finances its first full-length feature film ‘Billy Trigger’

The action film will be directed by Christian Viel (Deaden) and stars Fred Williamson (From Dusk Till Dawn), John Fallon (Saw 2), Matthew Bennett (Battlestar Galactica) and Pia Metni (Mirror, Mirror) (Montreal, Canada) September 18, 2012 – Popular movie fansite JoBlo.com will be financing its first full feature called ‘Billy Trigger’ written by John Fallon and to be directed by Christian Viel. Principal photography on the film will begin in mid-October, with JCB Productions and Movie Seals Productions, which is a return to the genre for Viel and Fallon, who made Deaden together in 2006.

Iconic American actor Fred Williamson will play ‘Pops’ in the film, the leader of an Irish mob which employs Billy Trigger, the hitman played by John Fallon, who is also co-producing the film. Joining them are Matthew Bennett playing ‘Bruno’ the expert assassin, as well as Pia Metni who will portray ‘Catherine’, the lead actress and love interest in the film.

Official synopsis: Irish mobster Billy Trigger has been the O’Brien family’s number one enforcer for three years now. And for good reason: he is cold, calculating and relentless and has never tackled a job he couldn’t finish. His life is trouble-free and solitary and consists mainly of three things: loose women, doing the work and cashing in. That’s until Pops, the head of the organization, hands him his next assignment. Trigger is tasked to look over Pops’ young mistress, Catherine, while he’s away. Of course, nothing goes as planned and Trigger ends up on the wrong side of Pops’ esteem… What happens when the best in the business is pitted against the business? Place your bets!

This will be the 5th cinematic collaboration between Viel and Fallon, who had previously worked together on Deaden, Recon 2020, Recon 2022: The Mezzo Incident and Recon 2023: The Gauda Prime Conspiracy. Most recently, Viel is the creative mind behind the very popular online comic book web series “Heroes of the North”, while Fallon has written and starred in American Muscle, and starred in the French horror film Dead Shadows.

JoBlo.com was founded in 1998 by Berge Garabedian and is well-known as one of the top movie fansites around the world.  Garabedian is “extremely excited to be a part of this creative team and I look forward to working with all these talented individuals on this very awesome production.” This will be the first time that JoBlo.com will finance a film in its entirety. It previously co-produced Deaden.

JCB Productions is handling licensing and distribution rights for the film, while Movie Seals Productions will produce the film, which is aiming to be released in the spring/summer of 2013.

My basic training routine and diet for Billy Trigger!

September 17th, 2012 No comments

With BILLY TRIGGER now in pre-production and with production around the corner, I got little time to get in the shape I wanna be in for the film. Luckily for me, I am at the moment in pretty good shape. I just want to gain a bit more mass (specially the arms) and definition (damn abs). I also want to build up my cardio and gain further flexibility/range as to my kicks.

So here’s an overview of what I’ll be doing to get in even better shape for the role. I have 3 different exercises per body parts. 4 sets an exercise. 8 to 10 reps each. NOTE: Am not counting the gun range visits and fight choreography rehearsals that will eventually surface. This is just my basic weekly routine.

DIET: I made it simple. Cut all carbs. Eat 6 small meals a day. All protein and veggies based. I will have half a grapefruit and a handful of blueberries every morning though (they help flatten the stomach).

TRAINING:

MONDAY:
Boxing with trainer
Weight training: Chest, back and abs.

TUESDAY:
Morning:

Kick training (focus pads, heavy bag, pool)
Afternoon

Weight training: Shoulders, biceps, triceps and abs.

WEDNESDAY:
Boxing with trainer.
Weight training: Abs and legs.

THURSDAY:
Morning
Kick training (focus pads, heavy bag, pool)
Afternoon
Weight training: Chest, back and abs.

FRIDAY:
Boxing with trainer
Weight training: Shoulders, biceps, triceps and abs.

SATURDAY: Work on what needs work.

SUNDAY: RECOUP DAY

My thoughts on the French premiere of Dead Shadows at L’Etrange Festival!

September 11th, 2012 No comments

Last night was the French premiere of DEAD SHADOWS (a film I acted in) at the L’Etrange Festival in Paris. I was there to support the screening and I loved the experience. After introducing the film (SEE THE VIDEO BELOW) to an enthusiastic and packed crowd (screening was sold out) with my brothers in tentacles (producer Julien Dunand, actors Fabian Wolfrom and Rurik Sallé, screenwriter Vincent Jule and director/producer David Cholewa), the flick finally kicked in and from my end it went swell. Peeps laughed at all the right spots (lots of my improvised lines got some giggles), clapped at some of the kills and the crowd stayed till the end and even clapped at the end of the final credits. After the screening lots of the audience members came up to me to shake my hand and tell me they dug my shit. So for me, yeah, that was a very positive screening.

What did I personally think of the film? Well I was on set, I lived it, was part of it, so I can’t be objective AT ALL. The flick was quite the battle to pull off. So fucking ambitious, so little money, so little time. With that, it came out better than I thought it would and it’s pretty much as good as it’s gonna get. It is flawed but I find the film’s lack of pretension and what it pulled off with so little time and coin very charming. It’s a B Movie akin to the ones we got in the 80’s. Where it lacked in means it made up in heart.  On a personal level, I liked my performance in it (which is always good) and dug the chemistry I had with the young lead (Fabian Wolfrom) and the bad guy (Rurik Sallé). So all in all am proud of the film. All I need.

In closing even though it’s the beginning for the movie (as it hits more festivals like Sitges in October and locks its impending worldwide DVD distribution) for me this screening acted as a semi ending. I will of course still report on the movie and keep tabs on it. But the screening gave me closure. A big thank you to the whole cast and crew for their hard work! And a special gracias to director David Cholewa and Producer Julien Dunand for hiring me and involving me in their crazy adventure. I loved working in French, adored Paris and I hope Dead Shadows will be the first of many. And of course thank you to L’Etrange Festival for giving the film such a lavish showing. I had a freaking blast! Onward and forward!
